LAC Nominations & Appointments

Dear CAI Members,

CAI-Central Arizona Chapter is now accepting nominations from members in all categories to join the Legislative Action Committee.

The CAI-CAC LAC is an important component to the overall mission of the Central Arizona Chapter's focus to remain the definitive voice and advocate for homeowner associations before the Arizona State Legislature. Through advocacy (both for and against), education, and the support of lobbying efforts in the form of research and legislative briefs, the LAC is the primary source of input for legislation being considered before the state legislature.

Members of the LAC participate in 30 minute weekly conference calls with the LAC's lobbying team, DeMenna & Associates, in which new bills are discussed, updates are provided on existing legislation, and action items are assigned as appropriate according to the seriousness of legislative issues at hand.  Weekly bill tracking lists are distributed to the LAC as part of the regular update process.

The LAC has been a key force in the defeat of several harmful pieces of anti-HOA legislation in recent sessions and has helped to pass several pieces of homeowner association reform legislation in previous legislative sessions.

CAI’s Central Arizona Legislative Action Committee is dedicated to monitoring legislation, educating elected state lawmakers, and protecting the interests of those living in community associations in Arizona. The LAC’s role is to keep watch over the legislative landscape and identify the potential consequences of legislative proposals on your community.

What is the LAC?

• A non-profit committee comprised of voting delegates and at-large CAI members from Central Arizona.

• Is comprised of association homeowners, board members, and professionals.

• Is not a PAC (Political Action Committee), and makes no financial contributions to candidates or political parties.

• Depends solely on the donations of the community associations it represents.

What does the LAC do?

• Researches and reviews proposed legislation and takes positions on bills affecting community associations.

• Educates lawmakers, legislative and regulatory staff, and other organizations, and testifies inlegislative committees on issues important to community associations.
